Terms of use and subscription terms
Version 2026-10-24. These terms cover the Metagnition website and subscriptions to SemiTrace by Metagnition and BESS Intelligence by Metagnition (each a “Product”).
1. Who these terms are between
These terms are between Metagnition Research (“we”, “us”) and you. Metagnition Research is a business name used by an individual sole trader based in India. It is not a registered company or a separate legal entity. Contact: info@metagnition.com.
By creating an account, starting a trial or subscribing, you accept these terms. If you use a Product for an organisation, you confirm you may accept these terms for it. We record the version you accepted, the time and your account.
2. Who sells the subscription
Dodo Payments is the authorised reseller and merchant of record for our subscriptions. When you subscribe, you buy the subscription from Dodo Payments through its hosted checkout, under Dodo Payments’ buyer terms. Dodo Payments takes payment, charges and pays any applicable tax, and sends your receipt and invoices. We provide the Product to you under these terms. We never see or store your card details.
3. The website
Website content is general information. It is not investment, legal, technical or commercial advice, and no page is a complete record of a market. Diagrams on the site explain how the Products work; they are not product data. You may read, link to and quote short parts with attribution. Do not scrape or republish the site, or imply our endorsement, without permission.
4. The Products
SemiTrace and BESS Intelligence are separate subscriptions, each with its own account and sign-in. A subscription to one does not include the other.
Each Product compiles and analyses information from public and other third-party sources. It is for information only and is not investment, legal, engineering or other professional advice.
- SemiTrace: each module and record shows its data class and limits, including records marked Preview or Limited. Coverage is what the Product shows; it is not a complete record of the industry.
- BESS Intelligence: cost and price figures are derived calculations. They may draw on third-party data used only for internal calculation; that data is not shown or supplied to you, and you get no right to redistribute it.
5. Free trial
Each Product has a 7-day free trial. No payment card is needed and nothing is charged. Each Product allows one trial per email address, and SemiTrace also allows one per organisation. Exports, downloads and any access outside the Product’s web interface are not available during the trial. When the trial ends you are not subscribed unless you choose to subscribe.
6. Seats and accounts
A subscription is one seat for one named person. You sign in with Google or, in BESS Intelligence, with a one-time code sent to your email. Give accurate details, keep your sign-in private and do not share your account. You are responsible for activity under your account.
7. Prices, billing and renewal
Each Product costs USD 99 per seat per month or USD 990 per seat per year. Prices include applicable taxes; the amount shown at checkout is the amount you pay. You are charged in advance at the start of each billing period.
Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period, at the then-current price, until you cancel. For annual plans we email you a reminder 7 days before renewal.
You can cancel at any time. Cancellation stops future renewals; your access continues to the end of the period you have paid for. Refunds and how to cancel are set out in the refund and cancellation policy, which is part of these terms.
We will give you at least 30 days’ notice by email before a price change applies to your subscription, so you can cancel before it does.
8. Acceptable use
You must not:
- reverse-engineer a Product, or scrape or systematically extract data beyond what your plan allows;
- resell, redistribute or sublicense Product data without our written agreement;
- use a Product to harass anyone, infringe rights or break the law;
- try to bypass sign-in, entitlements, limits or security controls.
9. Data and intellectual property
The Products’ compilations, classifications, analyses and software belong to us or our licensors. You get a personal, non-transferable right to use the Product you subscribe to during your subscription. You keep ownership of what you add to a Product and let us process it to provide the Product. Linked source documents belong to their owners. How we handle personal information is set out in the privacy notice.
10. Suspension and ending
We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, make abusive automated requests, or do not pay. Where reasonable we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem. You may stop using a Product and cancel at any time. When access ends, sections 9, 11, 12 and 14 continue to apply.
11. No warranty on data
We work to keep Product data accurate, but we do not promise it is accurate, complete or up to date. To the extent the law allows, the Products are provided “as is”, without implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.
12. Limits on liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you under or in connection with these terms is limited to the amount you paid for the relevant Product in the 12 months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, business or data. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, such as for fraud.
13. Changes to these terms
Each version has the identifier shown at the top. We will email account holders at least 30 days before a material change takes effect. If you do not accept a change, you can cancel before it applies.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction. If you buy as a consumer, you keep the protection of any mandatory consumer law of the country where you live.
